welcome to my garden
embracing new beginnings
Hello,
Thank you for signing up for my email list. For a while, I’ve been searching for an outlet to keep people in touch about my music, shows, and the like. Building out a newsletter feels like the most efficient and consistent way to do so.
This will also be an outlet. Instagram is fun, but I find myself much more inclined towards the written word than photography. Here, I will share my thoughts on life and the aspects of it that strike me as interesting.
I may break this promise at some point, but my goal is to write these communications completely organically from my brain—no artificial padding. Perhaps it will provide solace as other areas of life become increasingly mechanized.
As such, I’ve named this newsletter Fred’s Garden. It’s a place for ideas to grow. I hope you enjoy and thanks again for following along.
I do have news for this inaugural email: This past Thursday, I played my second show since moving back to the city!
It was at Rockwood Music Hall in the Lower East Side of Manhattan. My friend Trevor joined me on bass for a 40-minute set. A bunch of good folks turned out, including many of the people on this email list—so thank you! Here is the setlist from the night:
Baby (Caetano Veloso Cover)
Tangled Up In Blue (Bob Dylan Cover)
Just Around the Bend
Laundry Day
California Cotton Fields (Merle Haggard Cover)
The songs I’ve linked above are off Spring Cleaning, my debut album I released this past June. Check it out if you haven’t had a chance to yet!
And lastly, my main man Dom pulled up with his camera and got some excellent shots. I’ll have the physicals soon if you ever want to check them out.
That’s it for now! If you want to see me live again soon, I’ve got a gig playing covers next week 12/10 from 1-3 pm at Organic Grill in the West Village.
Past that, I hope your December is off to a great start! Talk soon,
Fred
